My tools 

I draw everything on an iPad Air in Procreate, usually wherever I happen to be sitting when an idea finally clicks. There isn’t a dramatic studio setup or a long ritual before I start drawing. Most of the time I just open the app and get straight to work because the moment where the idea feels clear doesn’t last very long, and I’ve learned not to slow it down with too many decisions.

Inside Procreate I keep going back to the same few brushes: Jaeger, Stanley, Firetail, and Gadsby. I just kept reaching for them until they became familiar. Jaeger is usually where the sketch begins because it feels quick and easy to move with, especially when I’m still figuring out the scene and the composition. Stanley tends to take over once the drawing starts to settle and the lines need to feel more deliberate. Firetail and Gadsby show up later, when the cartoon needs a bit of texture so it doesn’t feel too clean or too digital. At this point choosing between them feels like a picking whichever pen happens to be closest on a desk.

One thing I always adjust is brush stabilization. Drawing on glass can feel a bit slippery, and stabilization helps the lines look more confident. It’s just a small setting that makes the drawing feel more comfortable and easier to control.

That’s really the whole setup. iPad (or literally anything with a screen and a pencil), Procreate, a few familiar brushes, and settings that stay mostly the same. Once everything is open, I try not to think about the tools anymore and just focus on the drawing.
